Organic
Farming
What is Organic
Farming?
- It's
healthy - Organic food reveals a strong trend towards
higher levels of mineral and vitamin C contents, as well
as producing more antioxidants which have a beneficial
effect on humans.
- No
additives are contained in organic food.
- The
high organic standards of the Soil association ensure
the highest quality of soil management and animal
welfare. All organic farms are inspected at least once
every year.
- Pest
control is achieved through traditional crop rotations
and wildlife corridors such as hedges and Beetle banks
which attract predatory insects.
-
Fertility is maintained by the use of Green manures and
well composted farmyard manure.
-
Genetically modified crops, synthetic pesticides and the
routine use of antibiotics are all prohibited.
- It is
good for the wildlife and the environment
We will be
open to the public on 10th June as part of the National
farms open day.
